FORENSIC SCIENCE BASICS Course Details

Forensic science is the application of scientific principles from chemistry, biology, and physics to analyze evidence for legal proceedings, ensuring objective, reliable evidence for criminal justice. Key fundamentals include Locard’s Exchange Principle (transferred evidence), individuality, and systematic analysis, spanning crime scene investigation to courtroom testimony.

Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: ELIGIBILITY: Plus Two or equivalent examination recognized by this University with other subjects under Part III optional subjects provided they have secured 45% of the aggregate marks.

  • Forensic Ballistics Expert: Analyzes firearms, ammunition, bullet trajectories, and gunshot residue.
  • Forensic Document Examiner: Examines handwriting, signatures, and documents to detect forgeries.
  • Forensic Psychologist: Evaluates the mental state of suspects, studies criminal behavior, and assists in profiling.
  • Forensic Pathologist: A medical doctor who performs autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death.
